local opportunities overview

At The First Tee-GCNKY, we encourage participants to explore and get involved in golf, in The First Tee, and in their communities in as many ways as possible. It’s the best way to improve your golf skills and put your Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits to work.

These Chapter Opportunities are offered as options to help you do just that. Those indicated with an asterisk (*) will also strengthen your chances of being selected for The First Tee Network Opportunities, such as scholarships, leadership academies and golf experiences. New Opportunities may be added throughout the year.

Check back in January and often as we update local opportunities for 2019!

Handicap Index

Establishing a USGA handicap index allows all golfers to compete fairly and equitably. All TFT-GCNKY students playing regularly–especially those interested in playing tournaments and competitions–should establish a USGA handicap index. Because TFT-GCNKY is a member club of the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association, our students can get (or renew) their handicap index for a fee of $10 per year for golfers under 18 or $30 per year for those 18 and older.

The First Tee GCNKY offers paid internships as an opportunity to help ready students for future employment and allow them to develop and reinforce The First Tee life skills and core values. The working experience will allow coaching interns to develop workplace skills such as leadership, public speaking, planning/organization and establish connections with chapter head coaches, volunteers, parents, board members and students that may help them build a “go to team.”

To apply, students must have achieved Eagle level or higher and be at least 16 years old. He/she must also have a clear understanding of The First Tee mission and core values, and an ability to communicate comfortably and work with chapter staff, teaching pros and volunteers.

Please see the Summer Intern Job Description below and submit a copy of the application to apply. Completed applications may be submitted using an additional Word Document for essay question answers. Students interested in applying should submit their application to Jeanne Siegel at Jeanne@TheFirstTeeGCNKY.org.
