Parents Testimonials - 2009
THE FOLLOWING PROVIDES A SELECT FEW TESTIMONIALS FROM PARENTS OF THE FIRST TEE KIDS ON THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT THEIR KIDS EXPERIENCE IN LEARNING LIFE SKILLS AND CORE VALUES.

This is to thank you for the way that you honored John on Friday. He won’t look back and remember his “Birdie” scores or his chipping technique, because you didn’t mention either. He will look back and remember that someone he admired cared about his attitude and his decisions…not his score. I imagine that your decision to focus on character will greatly impact the course of his life and that of his children. Thank you!

I would like to thank you for everything you do for the First Tee Kids. In this case, from organizing the bus, pizza for dinner, all the pre planning down to small things such as plates, napkins, water, umbrellas, and sharpie markers to grouping the kids together. I know a lot of time went in to this whole trip and the planning. As I mentioned before, some kids never would or will have the chance to even to visit a golf course in their life time, let alone stand only few feet from the world elite golfers and watch them play, if not for your true interest in these kids. How many kids in the whole world can say, that there were only few feet from Tiger or Jack at the putting green or the tee box. Organizations like First Tee and their chapters are all over the country, but what make our chapter special is the people like you, that have given everything to these kids.

I am very proud to be a First Tee parent of three kids. What a wonderful program run by wonderful people like you guys, who have given everything with out any hesitation.

Parents, when you stop by next time, sincerely thank the people who run this. Set an example for your kids. This organization and the staff love your kids, regardless of color, race, age, and gender or socio economical status. Tell your friends, what a wonderful organization, your kids are affiliated with. All of us should be proud of this organization and the people.

Sincerely
Kumar

My daughter would be embarrassed if she knew I went in to all this but I will tell you so you know all the good the The First Tee has done her. She was born with a birth defect which required a major surgery. The surgery was successful but it left her with a hearing loss. Soon after that we were diagnosed with adhd. It is hard for a person with adhd to concentrate but when you have to wear hearing aides it just multiplies it. It has been a very long and lonely road for her. As you have noticed her social struggles are very hard for her. She doesn't realize how she comes off in a lot of social situations in which instructors and kids are turned off by her behavior. But all of you at The First Tee have been very good to her by reinforcing the correct way. She is not allowed to play sports due to her hearing loss so this has been a good thing for her. She constantly told me if I was being disrespectful on the golf course and to other players. At home she has demonstrated a lot more respect to us and her sister. She loves all of you and feels comfortable with all of you. She just wants to fit in like everyone else but unfortunately has developed a hard shell around her and comes off being a smart aleck. Thanks so much for your patience and not giving up on her.

He did enjoy the program and you would be so proud of him. Normally he is very quiet and shy especially the first day of school but this year when we met his teacher she said good morning and he actually said the same back in a voice she could hear and understand and introduced himself to her. You hope as a parent you are teaching them how to be a good citizen but seeing others in the First Tee learning introductions gave him the confidence to actually apply the knowledge to his everyday life with confidence. Thanks again for an enjoyable summer program.

What you and the other coaches have done for my girls will be engrained forever in my heart! Not only do they enjoy golf, but they have both developed a self confidence and determination that I cherish and (especially Caroline!). The life skills that come with First Tee are as much a part of their progress as the golf! (Just the other day - in relationship to something totally different - Caroline mentioned the importance of setting a goal and figuring out how to reach it. I was thrilled!) I really can never thank you enough!

You guys are the best. I tell you that it really feels good to be able to send my children somewhere with people that I know genuinely care for them. What a relief to know that my babies will be cared for in the most respectful way. You guys and the First Tee program are a true blessing to my family. People say that “you get what you give” and the kids are great because of YOU! Thanks

Dana

Wow, wow, wow! What a huge amount accomplished! That was amazing and professional. It was so refreshing and encouraging. We can't think of a better place for our kids to be - First Tee.

  Building Kids through Core Values
In the two years that my 10 year old son has been with The First Tee of Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky, he has faced a lot of personal struggles. Most of this stems from the aftermath of a difficult divorce, having to find a new home and changing schools.

The First Tee has given Jerry so much self confidence at a time in his life when it made a significant difference. Not because it has turned him into a fantastic golfer, but because the staff has shown him that he has value as a person. Jerry can look a grown up in the eye and offer a firm handshake with confidence. He feels completely comfortable speaking with adults.

Thanks to the staff for the Core Values instruction and for the tremendous influence you've had. We're looking forward to another great season of golf with The First Tee. Jerry may never turn out to be the next Tiger Woods, but he'll know the game and will undoubtedly enjoy it throughout his life.

You have my sincere gratitude for making a great difference in my son's life. I don't have the financial means to provide golf lessons for him, and I would have never guessed that so many positives could come from learning to hit a small white ball.

"I just wanted to thank The First Tee for allowing me to volunteer throughout the summer. Being able to work with children and teach them a game that I love has been one of the best experiences of my life ... I have had a tough time with leg and back pain over the last couple of years because of a car accident, however during the time when I was at First Tee I seemed to forget about my pain. I was having too much fun working with the kids and watching them improve each week ... I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to volunteer, do it at The First Tee!".
