In 2005, Chapter founders Lamar Johnson, Larry Kellam and Tom Briner, mobilized a talented Board of Trustees, raised start-up money, negotiated with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission to use their facilities at Reeves GC, and piloted a summer class session for 25 students. By year end, we had earned Chapter status, and announced our "grand opening" with the support of The First Tee Executive Director Joe Louis Barrow Jr., former LPGA Commissioner Charlie Mechem, and PGA Tour pro Steve Flesch.
While Reeves GC continues as our "headquaters" location, since 2006 we expanded our programming operations to Meadow Links & Golf Academy and The Golf Courses of Kenton County. Today, some 600 students participate annually in our core Life Skills Experience classes. And we serve close to 1,500 more through The First Tee Target Outreach and National School Program.
